FOCCUS
FOCCUS is a self-diagnostic practice designed to help couples learn more about themselves and their unique relationship. It is not a test, nor is it meant to be a predictor of success or failure in marriage. It is a tool to assist couples in recognizing and working through issues before marriage. This survey provides individualized couple feedback on where each partner stands in regard to topic areas important to marriage.
Engaged couples contact Fr. Gregory to let him know of their newly engaged status. Fr. Gregory will then refer the couple to the Ministry Stewards who will schedule a FOCCUS appointment with a married host couple from the parish. The host couple will meet with the engaged couple twice. The first meeting will be to complete the assessment and the second meeting will review the results of their survey.
The primary purpose for these meetings is to enable the married couple to facilitate discussions between the engaged partners and to assist the couple in gaining a deeper level of understanding, discussion, and problem solving, if applicable, during this process. FOCCUS is completed before couples attend Pre-Cana.
